While on the coach, we are journaling, participating in mini-workshops with Anthea, sleeping, watching movies, and taking in the beautiful surroundings.

Ms. Anthea shows us she loves us. :)
Ms. Anthea has been teaching us about ecology on the coach through discussions on forest fires, pine beetles, and other environmental issues for British Columbia. We reviewed sustainability (meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs). We learned that the First Nations people believe that whatever we do to the environment today will impact the next 7 generations, and they live their lives accordingly.

Today's word of the day is ECOLOGY. As part of learning more about sustainability and ECOLOGY, we visited the Northern Lights Wolf Centre. Our guide, Mo, spoke to us about bears, Karelian Bear Dogs, and wolves. We learned about the environmental dangers we have created for the wolves and bears and how the dogs can help. We had a picnic lunch (hamburgers and veggie burgers) at the centre, and then we carefully sorted our scraps, recyclables, and trash afterward.

Our next stop was the Last Spike. This was the last spike used to connect Canada coast to coast and greatly changed the lifestyle of the people.

After visiting the last spike, several of us used the opportunity to catch up on a few Zzzzs.

Finally, we arrived at the University of British Columbia - Kelowna. We checked into our dorms (the nicest accomodations so far), and then headed to dinner. After dinner, we participted in a special workshop and learned to make arrowheads.

After the workshop, we headed to our rooms to get some sleep and prepare for the busy day ahead tomorrow. We anticipate arriving in Victoria tomorrow evening. We are hopeful that will we have wifi there as well.
Good night everyone!
