Dinos, Burgers, and Everything in Between - July 10

Today we began our day with a wonderful pancake breakfast at the miner's camp. Our Ambassadors of the Day were Tyler M. (from Texas) and Jaionna T.

After breakfast we boarded the
coach for the 30 minute drive to Drumheller - the dinosaur fossil capital of the world. Be sure to notice the layers of rock in the "Badlands" mountains behind us. These layers are what make the dinosaurs easy to discover in this area. While in Drumheller, we visited the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Paleontology. This amazing museum was full of things to discover. We even got to see a paleontologist at work.

After a short drive back to Calgary, we got to experience the local culture by eating burgers at Peter's Drive In. The delegates and leaders enjoyed the great milkshakes, tasty burgers, and fries.

After our lunch, we went to Canada Olympic Park, which hosted the 1988 Winter Olympics. The students enjoyed a scavenger hunt through the park. Kudos to "Team Jello" for bringing home the gold! "Team Texas" brought home the silver medal.

Leaders and delegates alike had fun competing for their place on the medal podium.

After touring the Canada Olympic Park, we headed to Chinatown for an authentic Chinese dinner. We are now back at the dorms. Room checks are complete and students are in bed. We are thankful for an early night with all the conveniences of home.

Our hero of the day was our bus driver, Andy. Andy saved the day by repairing Bethanie's suitcase zipper.

Tommorow we head off to Banff, and are looking forward to the Canadian Rockies. It may be a few days before the blog is updated, but we will update as we can. We do not expect cell service on the drive, and we do not know about the lodge in Banff tomorrow night. We will keep you posted and are looking forward to the fun ahead!
